Professor Ilko Karaguozov- Chief Consultant

Professor Ilko Karaguozov graduated with his medical degree in 1964, he holds a dual specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Oncology. After his graduation he worked for five years in the OB GYN department in the regional hospitals of Ruse and Razgrad. In 1969, he began working in the hospital “Machin Dom” where he worked his way up the all the ranks and earned 37 years of experience from the hospital.

He began his position as the chief consultant for our OB GYN department in 2007.  Professor Karaguozov has over 150 medical publications and is an active participant in international medical scientific conferences and seminars. He has received specializations in Munchen, and Liepzig, Germany as well as London, England and various others international cities. Professor Karaguozov authored 5 medical scholarly works, among which one was the first covering the “Reproductive system problems caused by HPV”. The professor also co-authored the first technical manual for colposcopy. Additionally, he has completed doctoral work and dissertations on the theme of preventative medicine for oncological diseases.

Department Chief- Dr. Iliya Karaguozov

Dr. Iliya Karaguozov graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1994, and in 1999 he received his specialization in gynecology and he is currently pursuing an additional specialization in general and abdominal surgery. After graduating in 1994, he began working in the hospital “Machin Dom”, where he rose through the hierarchy- clinical assistant, resident, and chief resident. In 2006, he was invited to join our hospital to lead the Obstetrics and Gynecology department. He has completed courses in echography, pre-natal monitoring, colposcopy (microscopic examination of the cervix), and destructive therapy of pre-cancerous cervical cells, uro-gynecology, and oncology of the female reproductive system and standard gynecological surgery. Dr. Karaguozov’s number one priority is on early diagnosis and prevention of cancer of the female reproductive system and the pelvic region.

Dr. Ludmilla Lazarova
 

Dr. Lazarova graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1983, and received her specialization in obstetrics and gynecology in 1991. After graduation, she began her career as a clinical assistant in the hospital “Machin Dom” where she accumulated 12 years of experience, and was then hired to work in the “Sveta Sofia” hospital. She participated in experience exchange programs in the Tokushukai hospital network in Japan. Dr. Lazarova has additional specializations in pediatric gynecology, onco-gynecology, and gynecologic endocrinology. She has been a member of our team since the opening of the hospital. Her professional interest is based mainly in the sphere of obstetrics. 

 Dr. Boiko Dimitrov

 Dr. Dimitrov graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1994, and received his specialization obstetrics and gynecology in 1999. Between 1995 and 1999 he gained experience in the hospital "Machin Dom”, after which he worked in the general hospital “Sveti Ivan Rilski”, the Medical Center “Sveti Tihon”, and the Medical Center “Mediva”. He has completed courses in ultrasound diagnostics, colposcopy, hysteroscopy and laparoscopy for gynecology, and deconstructive treatments of lesions of the cervix. Before he began working with our team, he completed an experience exchange course in the hospital network of Tokushukai in Japan.

Dr. Rositza Koleva
 

Dr. Rositza Koleva graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 2000, and worked and specialized in the hospital “Machin Dom” and earned her specialization obstetrics and gynecology, after which she worked in the medical center “Femina” . Currently, she is pursuing her doctorate in the hospital “Machin Dom”, and has earned an additional specialization in Belgium for endoscopic surgery. She has conducted 4-dimension sonograms (echography) in the clinic for fetal medicine. She has been a member of our team from the beginning. Her main interests as a specialist are in prenatal diagnostics and high risk pregnancies.

 

Dr. Antonia Gerganova

Dr. Gerganova graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1993, and earned her specialization in obstetrics and gynecology in 2000 and worked as a clinical assistant in the hospital “Machin Dom”. After receiving her specialization, she worked in a private practice. She has additional specializations in echograpy, colposcopy, and has completed courses in surgical gynecology, and gynecological endocrinology. She is also a member of the Bulgarian Association of menopause and andropause.

 

Dr. Emilia Kiryakova

Dr.  Kiryakova graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1994, and earned her specialization in obstetrics and gynecology in 2001 and worked in the hospital “Machin Dom”. After receiving her specialization she worked in a private practice. She has been working in Tokuda Hospital Sofia since January 2007. She has completed courses in ultrasound diagnostics, colposcopy and others. Her interests as a specialists lie mainly in the sphere of deliveries and labor.

 

 Dr. Danail Iliev

Dr. Iliev graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1998, after which he began his career as a clinical assistant in the hospital “Machin Dom”, where he earned his specialization obstetrics and gynecology in 2004. In the period between 2005 and July 2008 he was a team member of the hospital “Sheinovo”. During 2008 he joined the OB GYN department of our hospital. He has completed courses in prenatal and perinatal medicine. He has specializations from Maastricht, Holland and Heidelberg, Germany. His professional interests are focused on high-risk pregnancies and infertility.

 

Dr. Kostandinka Evtimova

Dr. Evtimova graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1986, and earned her specialization obstetrics and gynecology in 1993. She worked in the municipal hospital of the town “Slivnitza” from 1986 until 2000, and during the last two years of her tenure at the hospital she was the OB GYN department chief. From the year 2000 until her start with our hospital she worked in the medical center “Bankia, and the medical center “Mediva”. She has additional specializations in echography, colposcopy, and has completed courses in gynecological endocrinology.    

Dr. Veronika Krustanova

Dr. Krustanova graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1999 and received her specialization in obstetrics and gynecology in 2006 from the hospital “Machin Dom”. She had four years of experience from the 26th Diagnostic and Consultation Center. She joined our hospital in the middle of 2007. 

 

 

Head Midwife - Marina Stoynova

She graduated from the Medical College of the “Yordanka Filaretova” Medical University in 1977. She has a bachelor’s degree in “Health Care Service Management” from the Sofia Medical University, after which she earned a masters degree in “Social Medicine” from the Sofia University. After graduation she began working in the obstetrics department of the 3rd General Hospital. From 1982 to 1986 she worked in the” Institute for the Treatment of Foreign Citizens”. She worked for two years in Tripoli, Libya as a obstetric nurse. From 1989 until 2006 she worked in the hospital “Machin Dom”. During that period she worked one year in a private hospital in Coventry, England as a nurse. She has been a member of our team since the opening of the hospital.
