The Anesthesiology and Intensive Care department’s main goal is to for our specialists to ensure non-stop 24 hour patient access to high quality service which is specialized and custom tailored to the patients needs for both in-patient or out-patient care and for planned or emergency procedures.
The Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care department has been equipped with the latest generation of equipment produced by leading world companies to provide anesthesia, analgesia (pain relief), artificial breathing ventilation and vital function monitoring for critical patients.
In Tokuda Hospital Sofia, we are especially proud to offer the most modern anesthesia and analgesia methods which allow us to provide effective and efficient one-day surgical procedures. We use the highest quality and latest medical supplies and newest pharmaceutical products, to ensure the patients overall well being and comfort.
The doctors conduct pre- anesthesiology consultations, consultations related to intensive treatments and preparations for patients which are scheduled for operations, invasive and/or diagnostic procedures which require general or local anesthesia for all the hospital departments and structures.
The doctors of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care department provide intensive treatment and comprehensive care for critical patients.
1. Consultations Activities
Every patient who is scheduled for an operation or invasive diagnostics goes through a consultation with an anesthesiologist. The goal is to fully assess the patient’s condition and determine any risks to fully prepare the patient for the procedure. The specialists provide the consultation in order to optimize the treatment process for high risk patients.
2. Anesthesiology Activities
2.1 Out-Patient Anesthesiology
- Upper and Lower endoscopy: fibrogastroscopy, fibrocolonoscopy, fibrobronchoscopy, and others
- Anesthesia and sedation for the “Medical Imaging Department” for MRI and scans for children and adults as required
2.2 Anesthesiology for One-day surgery
The department provides custom designed local or general anesthesia for surgical procedures in orthopedics, urology, obstetrics and gynecology, general and thoracic surgery, maxillofacial and plastic surgery, ophthalmology, Ear Nose Throat and others. This allows the patient to be admitted, operated on, and to be released within 24 hours.
2.3 Anesthesiology for the surgical sectors
Local or general anesthesia which is required for planned or emergency surgical interventions for general and thoracic surgery, orthopedics, neurosurgery, urology, obstetrics and gynecology, maxillofacial and plastic surgery, ophthalmology, Ear Nose Throat, vascular surgery and others.
Pain relief anesthesia is provided for natural or surgical childbirth.

4. Intensive Care- central re-animation recovery
In the central re-animation we treat all patients with critical and compromised vital functions, regardless of the nature and characteristics of their condition.
