Our clinical pathology department has the following functional units:
- Histology laboratory
- Cytology laboratory
- Autopsy ward
- Histology archives and library
The department performs a comprehensive set of histological and instrumental biopsies for histological diagnostics, which covers a wide range of diseases including:
- Surgical biopsies
- Otolaryngology Ear Nose Throat (ENT) diseases
The cytology laboratory serves patients with gynecological, surgical and respiratory diseases.
The department offers a modern immunology laboratory especially designed for breast cancer patients, which determines estrogen and progesterone receptors and HER 2 (herceptin) receptors.
The department rapidly processes preparations and patient samples from all of hospital departments and clinics thanks to our cutting edge Histokinet and Cryostat equipment.
For example, within 10 minutes from the receipt of material from the surgical team, breast and ovarian carcinomas tissues samples can be analysed and results delivered. For more permanent preparation samples, such as biopsies, the material can be analysed and results given within 24 hours.
The department team consists of highly qualified professionals, who are dedicated to provide quality and professional diagnostics services to our patients.
