The clinical laboratory is organized into separate areas:

  • The area for receiving and collecting biological samples, which has a well equipped waiting area.
  • The area for distribution and registration of biological samples for both out-patients and in-patients.
  • The area for patients to receive consultation regarding their test results.
  • The laboratory is in a separate room and conducts the following clinical sample tests:
  • Full blood analysis with 22 measured indicators
  • Specific protein and marker tests for inflammation
  • Electrolyte analysis
  • Lipid profiling, substrates and enzymes
  • Hepatic markers
  • Cardiological markers
  • Haemostatic testing
  • Blood-gas analysis
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Fecal Occult Blood testing

The department is integrated into the hospital IT system which archives all clinical tests and results in the patients medical records.

The laboratory has been equipped with the latest analytic equipment, including hematological counters, automated selective clinical chemical analyzers, and highly specialized clinical chemical analyzers.

The testing results data are analyzed and checked by the laboratory manager and are entered in the hospital computerized information system.

The laboratory closely follows its Quality Control strategy and procedures to ensure the quality of the clinical laboratory results including: internal laboratory quality controls to ensure accuracy and precision of the analyzers in compliance with world recognized and accepted criteria using automatic computerized QC software from Med Lab QC. 

To further insure quality, routine testing procedures results are analyzed monthly by external audit and the more specialized clinical testing results are analyzed for quality by international quality control systems including Labquality, Rigas, and UKNEQAS on a monthly basis as well. 

The laboratory follows contemporary routine protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to guarantee analytic reliability factors including precision, accuracy and test result interpretation.
