Our microbiology laboratory can determine the microbial causes of urinary infections, sexually transmitted infections, diarrhea syndromes, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, infections of the sensory organs, wound and skin infections, and other infections.

Our team use classic methods to isolate bacterial pathogens via sampling, microscopy, immunology methods, as well as rapid tests to determine the cause of the infection from clinical samples.

We work with contemporary equipment to ensure the accurate identification and antibiograms to isolate infection causes including: Crystal, BBL, Merlin, and Merck.

The laboratory conducts diagnostics testing of several viral infections including: Rota Virus, which causes diarrhea syndrome among children, RS virus, which causes respiratory tract infections and bronchitis among children, and EB virus, which causes mononucleosis.

We diagnose rheumatism, rheumatory arthritis, and syphilis using serum reactions.

Besides routine laboratory methodology, the microbiology lab offers innovative culturing methods to uncover difficult to diagnose infections including:

• Anaerobic infections
• Chlamydia infections with acute and chronic symptoms
• Haemophilus influenzae
• Campylobacter enterocolitis
• Tuberculosis- direct microscopy or antibody serum testing
• Helicobacter pylori- antigen and antibody testing
• Legionnaires' disease
• Pneumococcal infections- antigen urine testing
• Mycoplasma Pneumoniae (IgM)
• Mycoplasmic sexually transmitted infections
• Clostridium difficile antibotic-associated colitisis (toxin A&B)
• Streptococcal infections- antigen throat swab testing
