Dr. Polina Dakova - Head of Clinical Pathology department
Dr. Dakova graduated from the Medical University of Pleven in 1991. She received her specialty in 1999. Dr. Dakova has over 20 years of professional experience in clinical pathology. After her graduation she has worked in Byala Slatina General Hospital for two years. From 1994 till 2011 she has been a part of Clinical Pathology Department of University General Hospital for Emergency Treatment "Pirogov". In December 2011 Dr. Dakova became Head of Clinical Pathology Department of "Tokuda Hospital Sofia". Her research interests are focused mainly in the field of pediatric pathology, neuropathology, gastro-intestinal diseases. Dr. Dakova speaks English, German and Russian languages.
Dr. Hristo Mavrov – department doctor
Dr. Mavrov graduated from the Sofia Medical Academy in 1974, and received his specialization in pathoanatomy in 1983. He worked as resident in the pathoanatomy department of the hospital R. Angelova in Pernik, Bulgaria from 1983 to 2006 and also as an instructor (resident, senior resident and chief resident assistant chief) in the department of pathological anatomy of the Ministry of Finance branch of the Sofia Medical University. He has also served as the head of the surgical pathology laboratory of the clinical pathology center of the University Hospital Alexandrovska. His research interests lie in onco-urological and the pathology of the male reproductive system. He has over 25 scientific publications in national and international medical journals.
Maria Zaharieva – head lab technician
Head lab technician Mrs. Zaharieva graduated with a specialization “first class” in 1977 and in 2002 added a bachelor’s degree in health care management and health care services. She worked as a senior laboratory analyst in pathoanatomy department of the 5th Sofia Municipal Hospital. She has additional specializations in immunohistochemistry techniques from the central cytology laboratory of the clinical pathology center of the University Hospital Alexandrovska.
