Our Blood Bank (Transfusion Hematology Laboratory) is an integral part of Tokuda Hospital Sofia, which conducts blood donation programs and blood transfusions in accordance with local legislation, global medical standards and complies with the Council of Europe’s Good Laboratory Practices (GLP):

Our laboratory provides 24 hour full service for our patients.

Our laboratory offers a comprehensive range of immunohematological patient testing for both in and out patients:

  • Blood group determination with the ABO and Rhesus factor systems
  • Erythrocyte antigen determination
  • Screening and identification of anti-erythrocyte antibodies
  • Determination of anti-erythrocyte antibody titers 
  • Range of blood and blood component selection based on each patients individual profile

Our laboratory provides a range of specialized  outpatient immunohematology tests:

 

  • Blood group determination with the ABO and Rhesus factor systems for our patients and healthy individuals, pregnant women and their spouses to establish ABO and Rhesus incompatibility, we also prepare preferential group packages for groups including students.
  • Erythrocyte antigen determination – by patient request or by doctors request
  • Screening and identification of anti-erythrocyte antibodies for our patients, pregnant women to assess the risk of hemolytic disease of the newborn (FDN)
  • Determination of anti-erythrocyte antibody titers

 

2. We provides blood and blood components preparations for our patients for planned and/or emergency medical procedures.

3. We organize and ensure the proper storage and shipment of quality clinical and blood products.

4. We provide patients with consultative service, when administering treatments with blood and blood products.

5. We implement post-transfusion monitoring as part of our preventative health system to prevent post-transfusion reactions and complications.

Our blood bank and transfusion hematology laboratory has been equipped with the latest generation of highly sensitive equipment and our medical team consists of a team of highly qualified, motivated and dedicated professionals with a deep knowledge of transfusiology, medical hygiene, microbiology, and health care management.
