Dr. Rumen Lazarov- department chief
Dr. Lazarov graduated from the Sofia Medical Academy with the highest academic honors. He has earned his medical specialties in medical radiology and oncology. Dr. Lazarov is a highly qualified specialist with expert knowledge in radiotherapy and oncology gained during 18 years of professional experience. He has actively participated in the introduction of computer tomography diagnostics and tumor staging, with which new methods of individualized CT radiotherapy planning are based upon for patients with Hodgkin’s disease, and testicular, lung, and pelvic tumors.
Dr. Lazarov participated actively in the entire process of planning, construction, and bringing into operation of our Elekta Linear Accelerator radiotherapy system. He has also implemented new radiotherapy planning and treatment methodologies using our Elekta Linear Accelerator for patients with head, neck, thoracic, and abdominal tumors. He also trains our personnel to work with the equipment, planning software, and to administrate the data from our linear accelerator. Combining his practical knowledge and scientific interest he successfully completed two clinical trials one for Gerisan in 2000, and one for Erythropoietin in 2002, and he is currently completing a clinical trial for Perifozin.
In 2005, he was appointed the Topometry Laboratory Chief in the Radiotherapy Clinic of the National Oncology Hospital in Sofia.

Since 2006, he has been a member of the Oncology Commission of the Sveta Anna University Hospital.
He was appointed in November 2009 to lead the Radiotherapy Department of Tokuda Hospital Sofia.
Dr. Lazarov has extensive teaching experience, when he began working as a doctor he also became a lecture and practicum assistant for radiology technicians in the Yordanka Filaretova Medical College in Sofia. Since 1995, he has lead full lecture courses.
Dr. Iglika Mihailova- doctor
Dr. Mihailova graduated from the Pleven Medical University in 1999, and has two medical specialties in oncology and radiotherapy
In 1995-2001, she worked in the radiology department of the Oncology Center in the Pleven General Hospital. From 2002 to 2009, she was a team member of the radiology department of the Radiotherapy Clinic of the National Oncology Hospital Sofia. Towards the end of 2009, she began working in our radiotherapy department.

Dr. Dorotea Ivanova- doctor
Dr. Ivanova graduated with academic honors from the Moscow National University in 2009. Directly after graduation, she began working in Tokuda Hospital Sofia as a resident in our radiotherapy department. During her university studies, she participated in research projects in genetics, biochemistry, and biophysics. She has publications in neurology and neurosurgery, and she has won awards for her contributions to reports on neurology and space medicine. She organized an international course for space biology and medicine in 2007-2008. She is fluent in Russian and English.
Rada Borisova- medical physicist
Mrs. Borisova graduated as a physicist from the Sofia University “Sv. Kliment Ohridski” in 2003. In 2005, she received her Master’s degree in Medical Physics. In 2004-2008, she was a doctoral candidate in the National Radiobiology and Radiation Protection Center, where she worked as a research associate after her graduation. She has received her specialization in Medical and Radiology Physics. She has completed training and has an international certification for working with Linear Accelerators and Computer Tomographic radiotherapy planning. She has participated in European Projects under the PHARE, IAEA, and Sixth European Commission for research and technology development programs. She has specialized in France, Spain, and Italy. She has authored publications in international and national journals and has participated in numerous European scientific forums. She has began working in our radiotherapy department in 2009.
Zdravka Spasova- medical physicist
Mrs. Spasova graduated as a medical physicist from the Sofia University in 2007. She has been a member of Tokuda Hospital Sofia since April 2009, and she actively participated in the calibrations of our new equipment and getting our radiotherapy department licensed. She was a participant in the European School of Medical Physics in France during 2008 and 2009. She is fluent in Russian and English.
Ivet Payanova- senior radiology technician
Mrs. Payanova graduated from the Medical College of the Sofia Medical University with a radiology technician degree in 1989. She also has a bachelor’s degree in nursing management from the Public Health Faculty of the Sofia Medical University. From 1989-2001, she worked as a radiology technician in the 23rd Diagnostic and Consultative Center in Sofia. In 1999-2001, she worked in the Medical Center Biocheck as a radiology technician. In 2001, she was appointed the senior radiology technician in the medical imaging diagnostics department in the Sv. Ekaterina University hospital. She worked as our senior radiology technician in the medical imaging diagnostics department of Tokuda Hospital Sofia since our opening in 2006. In 2009, she was appointed as the senior radiology technician of our radiotherapy department. Her post graduate medical training includes international certifications for all areas of medical imaging: CT, MRT, conventional X-ray, mammography, and bone density assessment as well as for radiotherapy for working with Linear Accelerators and computer tomography radiotherapy planning. She specialized in Austria, Poland, and Japan. She participates in congresses and seminars of the Bulgarian Association of Radiology and Bulgarian Association of Nurses including giving presentations some of related to personnel management. She is fluent in English, Russian, and German.
Elka Stoyanova- radiology technician
Mrs. Stoyanova graduated from the Medical College Yordanka Filaretova with a radiology technician degree in 1975. She has a health care management and nursing management bachelor’s degree from the New Bulgarian University. Her post graduate training included coursework in computer tomography and emergency medicine. She has completed international certification training courses for working with Linear Accelerators and computer tomography radiotherapy planning. She has over 29 years of professional experience gained working as a radiology technician in the X-ray departments of the First General Hospital Sofia, Implantdent Ltd, and the medical imaging diagnostic department in the Tzarina Yoanna University hospital. She began working in our radiotherapy department in 2009.
Nadia Jankova- radiology technician
Mrs. Jankova graduated from the Plovdiv Medical College with a radiology technician degree in 1999. In 2003, she received her bachelor’s degree in social work from the Veliko Turnovo University Sv. Kiril and Metodi. She has completed international certification training courses for working with Linear Accelerators and computer tomography radiotherapy planning. During 1999-2008, she worked in the General Hospital Plovdiv in the medical imaging diagnostic department. From 2008-2009, she worked in the medical imaging diagnostic clinic of the Emergency Medicine University Hospital Pirogov in Sofia. She has been a member of our radiotherapy team since 2009.
Marieta Ganeva- radiology technician
Mrs. Ganeva graduated from the Medical College Yordanka Filaretova with a radiology technician degree in 2005. She has completed international certification training courses for working with Linear Accelerators and computer tomography radiotherapy planning. In 2005-2009, she worked as a radiology technician in the medical imaging diagnostic center of the Tzaritza Yoanna university hospital operating the MRI and CT equipment. In 2009, she began working for our radiotherapy department.
Lupcho Iliev- radiology technician
Mr. Iliev graduated from the Medical College Yordanka Filaretova with a radiology technician degree in 2007. In 2009, he received his bachelor’s degree in health care management from the New Bulgarian University. He has completed international certification training courses for working with Linear Accelerators and computer tomography radiotherapy planning. Between 2007 and 2009, he worked as a radiology technician in the dental X-ray office “Dr. Snezhanka Zheleva”. In 2009, he began working for our radiotherapy department.
Savina Rasheva- nurse
Mrs. Rasheva graduated from the Medical College of the Sofia Medical University with a nursing degree in 1990. In 2004, she received a degree in social work from the Veliko Turnovo University Sv. Kiril and Metodi. She gained her professional experience working as a nurse in the Oncology Hospital in Sofia. Her post graduate medical training includes course for palliative nursing, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and psychotherapy for oncology. She has been a member of our radiotherapy team since May 2009.
