World Class Stroke Treatment Unit

Our modern functional unit is dedicated for stroke diagnostics and treatments, which is equipped with 10 hospital beds some of which have anti-decubital mattresses. Our unit has 2-four person rooms and 2 single private rooms and provides 24 hour vital function monitoring.

Ischemic stroke is an emergency situation much like a heart attack. The only specific treatment of advanced ischemic stroke in the absence of contraindications is intravenous and in some cases intra-arterial thrombolysis (removal of blood clots and/or or clearing blocked cerebral arteries), which must be conducted in the first three to six hours from the stroke onset. Our stroke treatments are provided by the stroke unit in conjunction with specialists from our invasive cardiology department and medical imaging teams.

A recent summary of 23 studies established that specialized stroke units increase patient survival and reduces disability rates, without causing any systematic increase in the patient’s hospital stay. Worldwide, specialized stroke units have been adopted as the standard stroke treatment and logistic networks have been set-up to cover the large populations and large geographic areas.
