Our department’s neonatologist team consists of highly qualified and committed professionals, who have at their disposal state of the art facilities, contemporary equipment and quality medical supplies. This allows us to offer the latest preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic medical methods and services, for example argon laser therapy for retinopathy among premature babies.

Dr. Radka Maslarska – Department chief

Dr. Maslarska graduated from medical school in 1986, and has received two specialties: pediatrics earned in 1992 and neonatology earned in 2001. She also has a degree in Health Care Management received in 2006. Dr. Maslarska has completed medical post-graduated courses in abdominal and transfontanelle echography. 

She has over 20 years of professional experience in the neonatology clinic of the Pleven University Hospital and the University Pediatric Hospital in Sofia. Dr. Maslarska has been a member of our hospital since our opening. 

Dr. Maslarska’s scientific interested are focused upon intensive therapies, cardio-pulmonary adaptation and continuous monitoring of risky and high risk newborns. She has numerous scientific publications in national and international medical journals, and regularly participates in neonatology forums locally and abroad. She has also participated in the experience exchange program in the Tokushukai hospital network in Japan. Dr. Radka Maslarska is among the lecturers of the campaign “School for Parents” sponsored by the magazine “9 Months”.

Dr. Maria Kalaydjieva – neonatologist

Dr. Kalaydjieva graduated from medical university in 1984, after which she worked for two years as a rotation physician intern in Elhovo and Srednogorie located in Bulgaria. She has two medical specializations: pediatrics and neonatology. Dr. Kalaydjieva has completed medical post-graduated courses in abdominal and transfontanelle echography. From 1986, she served as a a neonatologist in the specialized hospital, Machin Dom, where she passed through all levels of qualification: resident, senior resident and chief resident.  She has been a member of Dr. Maslarka’s team since 2007.  She has numerous scientific publications in national and international medical journals, and regularly participates in neonatology forums locally and abroad.

Elena Borisova - head nurse

Head nurse Borisova graduated from the Medical College Yordanka Filaretova of the Sofia Medical University will a bachelor’s degree, and has a master’s degree in the management of socio-pedagogical activities from the Sofia University “Sveti Kliment Ohridski”. Before joining our team she worked in the University Pediatric Hospital of Sofia. Mrs. Borissova actively participates in the campaign “School for Parents” sponsored by the magazine “9 Months”, and has participated in the experience exchange program in the Tokushukai hospital network in Japan.
