Our department team consists of multi-profile medical imaging specialists who have earned a range of additional medical subspecialties including emergency diagnostics, magnetic resonance, computer tomography, mammography diagnostics, ultrasound diagnostics, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine and oncology.
Ass.prof. Galina Kirova-Nedialkova, PhD – Department chief
Ass.prof. Kirova graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1986, after which she worked in the X-ray department of Dobrich District Hospital, in the vascular and interventional diagnostic sector of the X-ray department of the Military Medical Academy, the medical imaging sector of the National Oncology Center, and the medical imaging diagnostic department of the university hospital Lozenetz. She has a specialty diploma in medical imaging, and she is proficient in all the conventional and specialized methods in medical imaging. Thanks to her vast experience working in the National Oncology Center, she is very knowledgeable of the biology of cancer, its special features and peculiarities, diagnostic methods, and the monitoring of cancerous diseases. Her areas of special professional interest include diseases of the thorax and heart. She has received additional specializations from the university hospital of Uppsala, Sweden, the university hospital in Bordeaux, France and the Oncology Center in Marseille, France.
She began working on scientific research activities in 1992, after successfully passing a board exam to become a scientific research associate in the Military Medical Academy. In 2000, she successfully defended her dissertation thesis on the theme of the peculiarities of diagnosing diffuse lung diseases.
She has authored more than 150 scientific publications in national and international medical journals, and has authored and co-authored medical imaging textbooks. She has served as both an organizer and lecturer in numerous national and international forums for medical imaging. Since 1997, she has been a guest lecturer of the National Oncology Center, the Sofia Medical University, and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and the coordinator of scientific forums organized with the assistance of the Bulgarian Royal College of Radiologists. Dr. Kirova is the deputy chief editor of the scientific journal “Rentgenology and radiology”, and is a member of numerous national and international scientific associations and organizations.
Dr. Valentin Ivanov
Dr. Ivanov graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1989, and received his specialty in medical imaging in 1991. He has participated in the programs ESDIR, HALE Project, and the Galen Project course which was organized by the European School of Radiology. He also completed the experience exchange program in the Tokushukai Hospital Network in Japan. Dr. Ivanov worked in the medical imaging departments of the Military Medical Academy, the Fourth Labor Hospital, and for 14 years in the National Oncology Center in which he served as a scientific associate for the last eleven years. He has been a member of our team since we opened our hospital, and his professional interests are focused in the sphere of mammology.
Dr. Maria Todorova
Dr. Todorova graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1997, and earned her specialty in medical imaging in 2003. After her graduation until 2006, she worked in the National Cardiology Hospital and the National Oncology Dispensary. She has participated in numerous scientific forums abroad focused upon innovations in medical imaging, among which include forums in Poland, Austria, Japan, Germany, and others. Dr. Todorova’s scientific interests are focused upon cardio-vascular diagnostics and mammography diagnostics
Dr. Dora Zlatareva
Dr. Zlatereva graduated from the Plovdiv Medical University in 1996, and received her specialty in medical imaging in 2002. She began her medical career working in the Plovdiv Medical University and worked briefly in a private hospital in South Africa. Between 2003 and 2006, she worked in MRI and CT laboratory in the medical center Ultrascan. She participates in the European Radiology Congress every year, and regularly participates in courses and forums held in Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and the UK. Dr. Zlatareva’s professional interests lie in neuroradiology.
Dr. Marina Vloka - Koleva
Dr. Vloka graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1993, and earned her specialty in medical imaging in 1998. After graduation, she began working for the medical imaging department of the general hospital Pirogov, where she gained 14 years of professional experience. She has completed numerous course and additional qualification trainings in interventional radiology, medical imaging of the endocrine system, and ultrasound. Dr. Vloka is a member of the Bulgarian and European Society of Radiologists, and her professional interests are focused upon interventional radiology and gastrointestinal (GI) medical imaging.
Dr. Teodora Monovska
Dr. Monovska graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 2006. Immediately after her graduation, she began working as an intern in the medical imaging department of Tokuda Hospital Sofia, in order to gain experience working in the most modern radiology department in the country. Dr. Monoska is fluent in English and Spanish.
Miroslav Tzochev- Head x-ray technician
Head technician Tzochev graduated from the Medical College Yordanka Filaretova of the Sofia Medical University in 2001. From 2001 until 2003, he worked in a dental office for dental x-rays. From 2003 to 2007, he worked in the university hospital Sveta Anna and joined our hospital in February 2007. He has a bachelor’s degree in the management of health services, and is pursuing a master’s degree in the same discipline.
