Tokuda

Our physician team includes four ophthalmology specialists, one of which is a pediatric ophthalmologist. Each member of our team has over 8 years of specialist experience, has worked in national university eye clinics, and our team members have earned specializations in leading universities in the UK, Germany and Japan.

Dr. Veselin Daskalov PhD- Department chief

Dr. Daskalov graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1987, and received his specialization in eye diseases in 1990. He worked for two years as a scientific research associate in the university hospital Tzaritza Yoanna. In January 1992, he began working as a resident in the Alexsandrova university hospital in the ophthalmology department’s ocular trauma and vitreoretinal surgery clinic. In 1999, he was appointed as the chief resident of the department. Dr. Daskalov has been a member of our hospital since we opened to serve the public. He has specialized abroad including in the Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, The University Eye Clinic in Regensburg, Germany and the Chibanishi Hospital located in Japan. He is a member of the executive board of the Bulgarian Association of Ophthalmologists.

Dr. Liliana Dimitrova – pediatric ophthalmologist

Dr. Dimitrova graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1990, and received earned her pediatric ophthalmologist specialty in 1996. During her specialization training and for 10 years after receiving her specialization she worked in the Alexsandrova university hospital in the pediatric eye clinic. She has vast experience diagnosing and treating inflammatory eye diseases among children and adults. She has been a member of our hospital since we opened, and she has earned medical specializations from university hospitals in London, Brussels and Tokyo. She has a contract with the Bulgarian National Insurance fund (NHIF) for outpatient and inpatient medical care to provide consultations and treatments for both children and adults. Dr. Dimitrova also actively works with children with impaired vision from the "Louis Braille" school in Sofia, and various homes for disadvantaged children.

Dr. Irina Kuneva - ophthalmologist

Dr. Kuneva graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1997, and earned her specialization in ophthalmology in 2004. She received her specialization training while working in the university hospital Tzaritza Yoanna, and she has been a member of our department since we opened the hospital. Dr. Kuneva has participated in the experience exchange program within the Tokushukai Hospital Network in Japan. She also has a contract for outpatient and inpatient medical care with the NHIF to provide consultations and treatments for eye diseases.

Dr. Yulia Baraharska - ophthalmologist

Dr. Baraharska graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1996, and received her specialization in eye diseases from the university hospital Alexsandrova in 2002. She has worked in the Eurozdrave Medical Center, and the Cardio Plus Center in the Military Medical Academy, and she has been a member of our department since we opened the hospital. Dr. Baraharska has participated in the experience exchange program within the Tokushukai Hospital Network in Japan. She has a contract for outpatient and inpatient medical care with the NHIF to provide consultations and treatments for eye diseases.

Dr. Alek Topov - ophthalmologist

Dr. Topov graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1995, and earned his ophthalmology specialization in 2002. After he graduated from medical school in January 1996, he began working in the ophthalmology clinic of the Alexsandrova university hospital. He was a team member of the ophthalmology department of the Alexsandrova hospital until March 2008, and in April 2008 he joined our department in Tokuda Hospital Sofia. He has specialized in Germany, and has participated in numerous specialized medical forums locally and abroad.

Dr. Vladislava Kostalevska - ophthalmologist

Dr. Kostalevska graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 2002, and specialized in the Alexandrova university hospital for four years. She has additional medical qualifications for glaucoma received in Geneva, Switzerland in 2006, and for retinal detachment received in Monte Carlo in 2007.

She has also completed a post graduate medical training course for the posterior ocular segment held in Dortmund Germany in 2008. Dr. Kostalevska regularly participates in specialized medical conferences, symposia and seminars locally and abroad. She has been a member of our department team since 2008.

Dr. Risto Traykovski

Dr. Traykovski graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 2007. Immediately after his graduation, he began working as a volunteer in Tokuda Hospital Sofia. From April 2008, he began working as a doctor-intern for eye diseases for our hospital. Dr. Traykovski fluently speaks English, Macedonian, and Serbo-Croatian.

Antonia Yordanova- head nurse

Head nurse Yordanova graduated from the Medical College Yordanka Filaretova of the Sofia Medical University in 1990. She has completed additional qualifications courses in post-operative observation of ophthalmology patients, as well as English language courses and computer courses. She has earned 20 years experience in ophthalmology nursing. For the first 4 years after her graduation she worked in the Fifth General Hospital in Sofia, and after which she worked for 16 years in the Eye Clinic of the university hospital Sveta Anna. She was appointed to head nurse of the Eye Clinic after one year, as has 15 years experience serving patients as a head nurse. She has been a member of our team since we opened our hospital.
