Laser Treatment of Prostatic Adenoma at Tokuda

The modern laser "vaporizes" the tumor and helps for the complete and fast recovery of the patient

With unique laser for surgical treatment of prostate adenoma was equipped the Urology Department at Tokuda Hospital Sofia. This advanced equipment helps the urologists to perform the most modern and minimally traumatic operations of benign prostate tumors. The first operation in Bulgaria of that kind was carried out in Tokuda by the Urology Department chief Dr. Kaloyan Davidoff in 2008 after his specialization in Kings Hospital, London.

"The diode laser evaporates the prostate adenoma gradually – millimeter by millimeter" says Dr. Davidoff  who already has performed over 170 such operations. He emphasizes that this intervention is associated with minimal blood loss and minimal risk of complications. Therefore, the laser surgery of prostate adenoma is recommended for men with cardiovascular diseases with prescribed anticoagulation therapy. Another advantage of the method is the rapid recovery period.

"Laser surgery is bloodless and minimumally traumatic, but everyone must know that the success of the surgical treatment is connected with the early diagnosis of the disease - prostate adenoma" emphasizes Dr. Davidoff. He recommends the men over 50 years of age to visit an urologist once a year for ultrasound examination of the prostate.
