Covering Your Medical Expenses

Bulgarian citizens with National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) coverage:

Our Tokuda Medical Center and Tokuda Hospital Sofia both have active contracts to serve NHIF covered citizens. In compliance with local legislation, all NHIF patients have direct access to our medical facilities, and aren’t required to pay additional charges for basic medical care as covered by the NHIF fund aside from a hospital stay tax for inpatient care. All medical service upgrades not covered by the NHIF including doctor’s fees, private rooms,  supplies, consumables, specialized medications and implants are charged according to our public price list. All our patients are informed of all applicable additional charges before and during the treatment process.

Patients who choose to cover their own medical expenses:

If our patients are un-insured and not covered by the NHIF system, they can choose to pay according to our public price list for our medical center and hospital. During the first clinical exam, if a patient requires medical treatment we provide our patients with a medical package service estimate including all the medical expenses and service upgrades selected by our patients. We prefer that patients pay in advance for their medical service package, including the doctor’s fees, consumables, and room fees related to their treatment. If during the treatment process additional services or supplies are needed, we immediately inform our patients of the changes to their final medical invoice.  We accept cash payment, bank transfers, and international and local credit/debit cards.

Patients with international or supplemental insurance:

Tokuda Hospital Sofia and Tokuda Medical Center have direct billing contracts with numerous national and international insurance companies, check to see if we have a contract with your insurance company, click here for more information.

If you plan on using your insurance (even if we have a contract with them), we strongly recommend that you contact your insurance company to ask about your policy requirements. Please ask what steps you must take for your insurance company to cover your medical charges. We can assist you with your insurance company, but contact them as early as possible to be sure that your policy requirements are covered to avoid any charges being charged directly to you.

Tokuda Patient Credit:

If you do not have the financial resources to cover your expenses during your treatment stay with us, our credit consultants from Tokuda Bank located in our central lobby can assist you in selecting a credit package to cover your medical expenses.

Tokuda Bank offers credit packages up to 15,000 BGN to cover your medical expenses, with a credit payback periods of 2-7 years at 12% annual interest rate. For more information and specific terms please contact our Tokuda Bank branch located in our central lobby or call  + 359 24034957 or click here to visit their website
