Our Multidisciplinary Team
We formed a collaborative team of medical specialists including angiologists and phlebologists (specialists in venous and ultrasound diagnostics), neurologists, and endovascular therapy specialists. The multidisciplinary team provides comprehensive diagnostics for MS patients and upon discovery of CCSVI pathologies to provide the necessary treatment, namely dilatation of the blocked veins.

Professor L. Grozdinski MD PhD

Professor Grozdinski graduated from the Sofia Medical Academy in 1974, and in 1981 he successfully defended his Angiology dissertation. From 1981 to 1989, he rose through the ranks of resident, senior resident and head resident in the Angiology Sector of the National Center of Cardiovascular Diseases and served as the leader of the functional vascular diagnostics team.
In 1990, he was appointed head resident and the Angiology Sector Chief in the Sveta Ekaterina University Hospital. He has participated in short term specializations in England in 1989, and in Harvard USA in 1992. In 1995, Professor Grozdinski received his Associate Professorship. In 2005, he was appointed to work as an Associate Professor and to lead the Angiology sector of the National Cardiology Hospital. In 2008, he successfully defended his PhD dissertation for the theme “Ultrasound diagnostics for multi-focal arteriosclerosis”
Since 1977, Professor Grozdinksi has been working as an angiologist and leading functional vascular diagnostic teams and angiology sectors. He introduced ultrasound diagnostics techniques to the Angiology & Phlebology medical specialties in Bulgaria. And in 2007, he became the leading angiology specialist in the Bulgaria. In 2010, he was appointed as our Angiology Professor and to lead Tokuda Hospital Sofia’s Angiology & Phlebology Sector. Professor Grozdinski in collaboration with Dr. Ivo Petrov, created the Tokuda Chronic Cerebral Spinal Venous Insufficiency (CCSVI) Diagnostic and Treatment Center.
The professor has produced at total of 117 scientific works and publications in the sphere of Angiology, including two monographs. He has participated in 11 world conferences in Angiology & Phlebology, and authored one invention. He is the scientific mentor of 9 angiology specialists, and leads a post-graduate medical education course. The professor is the chairman of the “Ultrasound Vascular Diagnostics” commission, and the chairman of the National Association of Phlebology. He is a member of the directing boards of the Bulgarian Association of Ultrasound in Medicine and the Endovascular Therapy Association. Professor Grozdinski is the also the chief editor of the Bulgarian Phlebology & Angiology magazine, and has authored two novels.

Associate Professor Ivo Petrov MD

Dr. Petrov graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1992, and received his specialization in internal medicine in 1999, and added a specialization in cardiology in 2003, and has an additional specialization in invasive cardiology. Dr. Petrov also graduated from a health care management program at the Sofia University. He has completed post-graduate medical courses in Echocardiogram Stress testing in Wiesbaden, Germany, and in 1999-2000 he was awarded a stipend to specialize in invasive cardiology and radiology in The Institute of Cardiology and Cardiac-Vascular surgery sponsored by the Favaloro Foundation in Buenos Aires, Argentina. During the period 1992-2006, Dr. Petrov worked in the general hospital “Sveta Ekaterina”, where he worked his way up staring as a volunteer partner to resident to head resident in the hospital cardiology clinic. In November 2006, he was appointed to lead the cardiology department of Tokuda Hospital Sofia.
Dr. Petrov has numerous medical publications and has participated in and participates in numerous medical seminars and congresses on the national and international level. He is a member of the European Cardiology Society, and has the rank of FESC “Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology”, and also is a member of the Spanish Association of Cardiology, the Latin American Association of Interventional Cardiologists, the Bulgarian Society of Angiography and Vascular surgery, The National Society of Bulgarian Cardiologists and others. Dr. Petrov is fluent in Spanish, English and French.

Dr. Staikov graduated from the Sofia Medical University in 1988, and after graduation he began his career as the chief of the Health Service in Kocherinovo, Bulgaria. In 1990, he joined the university hospital Tzaritza Yoanna, and in 1993 he received his specialty in neurology. After which, Dr. Staikov went to Switzerland to specialize in the Bern University Hospital under the mentorship of the world leading Professor Matle.
Between 1996 and 1998, he wrote his thesis dissertation titled “Ultrasonic diagnosis of cerebrovascular activity” and successfully defended it in front of Prof. Matle. Dr. Staikov earned his next specialization in Sleep Medicine in Freiburg, Germany. He then founded the first National Laboratory for the Study of Sleep. The CV of Dr. Ivan Staykov has been included in the prestigious reference guide of important world personalities “Who is Who in the World”.
Mariana Iloska MD Angiology and Phlebology Sector Resident, Chief Medical Coordinator CCSVI Diagnostics and Treatment
Dr. Iloska coordinates the entire CCSVI diagnositic and treatment process from the initial medical service request to the post-procedural check up and to follow up examinations.
Dr. Iloska is a resident Angiologist specializing in the ultrasound diagnostics and treatment of vascular diseases. She has also participated in medical student training exchange programs in the General Surgery department of the Alexandria University Hospital in Egypt and the Surgery and Transplant Department of the Infant Jesuit Teaching Hospital in Warsaw Poland. Member of the Bulgarian Angiology and Vascular Surgery Association and National Phlebology Association.
