My name is Michael Duffy and I reside at Torbay, Newfoundland and labrador, Canada. I am 43 years of age and a practicing member of the NL Bar. In Nov 12, 1992 I was diagnosed with Relapsing Remitting MS. I was fairly stable with periodic attacks for about 15 years and baout 3 years ago it became Secondary Progressive. My energy levels were very low with a lot of fatigue.
My walking deteriorated to where I needed a cane most of the time. My balance was terrible. I could not stand with my eyes closed or stand on one foot at all. I could not walk up or down stairs without a handrail. My cognitive function was slowing and vision was getting bad. I had a right foot drop that caused me to trip because of the draging foot. All in all I was on a steady and increasing decline.
With reluctance I watched the CTV news story on Liberation last fall. Being very skeptical I did not pay much attention. Later I started hearing the anecdotal reports of others who had the treatment and started researching on the internet. Eventually I decided to go and did go for treatment in Bulgaria on June 3, 2010. Immediately the fatigue improved. My balance was much better the second day to the point where I no longer needed the security of the cane.
Over the last couple of months my strength, vision, cognitive function and energy levels have been steadily improving. I can now walk a couple of kilometers unassisted. My senses are much crisper, vision, hearing and even taste. I have stopped all of the pre operative drugs.
The numbness in my hands is gone and is much less in my feet. I can now tap my foot and stand with my eyes closed. I can not only stand on one foot but I can actually hop on both my left and right feet. I can touch my nose with my eyes closed and the muscle spasms have lessened drastically. I sleep thru the night now and no longer have bladdar urgency or periodic incontinence. I am thinking more clearly and my speach is now normal. Prior to the surgery I had a headache and swelling in my upper back every day for 15 years. That headache and swelling went away about a week after the surgery and has not returned.
I can now ride my dirtbike that was garaged for a few years and last week I competed in the Lumberjack Challenge at Gambo. I did not win but I was far from being last in each of the events. This treatment has restored my quality of life and is allowing me to be a father to my children rather than the guy asleap on the couch after supper. The skeptic is now a believer and a zealous advocate.
