Valeri Gelev, MD, PhD, Cardiology Clinic Chief Dr. Valeri Gelev MD has graduated Medicine in Medical University Sofia in 1990. He has two specialties – Internal Diseases and Cardiology. After acquiring his Cardiology specialty Dr. Gelev acquires also a license for Invasive Cardiologist. His professional experience is over 20 years and it is gathered in the National Cardiology Hospital and The Hospital for Emergency Treatment “Pirogov” in Sofia. Till 2013 he was chief of the Invasive Cardiology Ward. Since 2013 he is chief of the Cardiology Clinic in Tokuda Hospital Sofia.

Dr. Gelev is author of many publications in Bulgarian and International issues, he is also a co-author of two textbooks. He has numerous participations in international and national symposiums. He is a member of the Bulgarian Cardiologic Association, the Bulgarian Association of Interventional Cardiology, and associated member of the European Club for Chronic Occlusions. He speaks English, German, and Russian.
Vasil Traikov, MD, PhD, Invasive Electrophysiology and Cardiac Stimulation Dept. Chief He has graduated medicine in Medical University - Sofia in 2000 with excellence. After his graduation he worked in the Clinic for Nephrology, part of Medical University –Sofia, and also in the Clinic for Intensive Therapy in Military Medicine Academy in Sofia. In 2002 after winning a competition for a vacancy he was appointed as an intern in the National Cardiology Hospital in Sofia. From 2004 he was a Scientific Associate in the Electrophysiology Laboratory in the National Cardiology Hospital. From 2008 till 2011 he specialized in Second Clinic for Internal Diseases with Cardiology Center, part of the University in Seged, Hungary. In 2011 he was certified by the European Cardiac Arrhythmia Society as an Invasive Electrophysiologist and specialist in the sphere of Cardiac Stimulations.

He became part of Tokuda Hospital Sofia team in April 2011, heading the Department of Invasive Electrophysiology and Cardiac Stimulation. Dr. Traikov is author and co-author of more than 20 scientific publications, some of them in prestigious international medical journals. He also has many participations in scientific forums in the sphere of Cardiology, Invasive Electrophysiology and Electrocardiostimulation. He is a member of the European Society of Cardiology, Bulgarian Society of Cardiology, Hungarian Society of Cardiology and European Cardiac Arrhythmia Society. He speaks English, Hungarian and German.
Ivayla Zheleva, MD, Cardiologist, Invasive Cardiologist, Internist Dr. Ivayla Zheleva has graduated Medicine in Medical University Sofia in 1999. From 2000 to 2009 she was working as a doctor intern in the Clinic for Cardiology in the University Hospital 'St. Ekaterina', Sofia. From 2009 to February 2012 she was working in the Invasive Cardiology Department in University Hospital for Active Treatment and Emergency Medicine 'Pirogov'.
She has specialties for Internal Diseases, Cardiology and Invasive Cardiology.
Varban Stoyanov, MD, Cardiologist, Invasive Cardiologist, Internist Dr. Varban Stoyanov is Certified Invasive Cardiologist. He has graduated Medicine in Medical University Sofia in 1997. He has two acquired specialties – Internal Diseases from 2007 and Cardiology from 2012. After acquiring Cardiology specialty, Dr. Stoyanov also acquired a Certificate for Invasive Cardiologist. After his graduation he worked in the Cardiology Department of University Hospital 'St. Ekaterina' between 2001 and 2010, and from 2010 till 2012 he was an Invasive Cardiologist in University Hospital for Active Treatment and Emergency Medicine 'Pirogov'. He has specialized in France and Holland.

Shwe has worked long years in Military Medical Academy as a nurse in the Clinics for ‘Intensive Therapy’ and ‘Emergency Therapy’. She has additional qualifications in the sphere of emergency help and intensive care. She has graduated a training course in Japan and certified skills for work with personnel and for handling conflicts and stress at the work place.

The hospital has a parking lot for patients and visitors. The first 30 min. are free of charge, every next hour is 3BGN/hrs.
IMPORTANT! Have in mind that the parking lot is very busy Monday to Friday between 10.00 and 14.00. The hospital team will appreciate if those whose health condition allow, take the drop off option without parking or use other transport means or alternative parking lots in the area.

Metro lines: You can get off at James Bourchier or Vitosha metro station and walk to the hospital.


From the Central Railway Station

Bus: take bus #305 and get off at Romanian Embassy stop, then transfer to bus #120 to Tokuda Hospital stop.

Metro: Take metro line Nadezda-Lozenetz and get off either at James Bourchier or Vitosha metro station, then walk to the hospital.
