Endocrinology

The endocrinology department accepts an average of 900 patient annually for inpatient diagnostics and treatment, in all areas of the endocrinology and metabolic diseases. Most of the patients suffer from diabetes mellitus, thyroid diseases, obesity, metabolic syndrome, and some of the less common nosological conditions – diseases of the adrenal gland, pituitary, reproductive endocrinology disorders etc. A wide range of hormonal, immunological, biochemical and advanced imaging techniques are used, incl.: a high speed scanner, MRI, DEXA osteodensitometer. Consultations with specialists concerning complications of the cardiovascular system, kidneys, gastrointestinal, ocular and other complications of the endocrinal diseases, can be arranged. The medical team works with professional nutritionists to develop individual diets for patients with obesity and diabetes. The team also conducts training for working with injectables and glucometers for diabetic patients.  The most up-to-date tools and schemes for medical treatment from the world practice are used. The department develops programs for assessing the risk of developing diabetes and obesity. There is a direction for specialized diagnostics and treatment of hormone-dependant diseases of the pituitary-adrenal-gonadal axis and thyroid diseases. The endocrinology department provides continuous tracking (standard and research) for patients with diabetes mellitus and other endocrine diseases.
