Nephrology

The nephrology department offers diagnostics, treatment and prophylaxis of renal and genitourinary conditions. It applies modern methods for laboratory, imaging, functional and invasive diagnostics, as well as performing renal biopsies under ultrasound guidance. There are 14 beds in the department, which accepts as much as 700 patients for hospitalization annually. The medical team is experienced greatly in diagnostics and treatment of acute and chronic renal diseases – renal infections, immune and autoimmune nephropathies, vascular abnormalities and conditioned renal hypertension. More than 60 puncture renal biopsies are performed annually for specifying the primary and secondary glomerulopathies and other bilateral parenchymal renal impairments. Accurate and fast diagnostics are realized, using the other diagnostics units in the hospital – clinical, microbiology and immunology laboratories, the Department of imaging diagnostics and others. The medical team works in close collaboration with their colleagues – nephrology specialists from the Department of Hemodialysis when performing dialysis procedures on patients that suffer from acute renal failure or CRF, as well as with the departments of urology, vascular surgery, and the other clinical units in the hospital.
