Pulmonary Function Testing


A modern equipped laboratory for pulmonary function testing works in Tokuda Hospital Sofia. It has latest generation diagnostic equipment Viasys Health Care – world leader in equipment for pulmonary function testing.

In the laboratory is conducted function testing of the lungs in peace and during exercise.

Breathing function testing in peace

The following examinations are conducted:

 - Spirometry (flow-volume) MVV

 - Difusion – Real time single breath method

 - Functional residual capacity (FRC - He rebreathing method)

 - Bronchial challenge samples (APS-pro)

 

The examinations are realized through the system MasterScreen™ PFT

The examinations are basics in:

 - Diagnostic of pulmonary diseases and tracking of their progression

 - Diagnostic of bronchial asthma and defining its severeness

 - Preoperative assesment of the lungs

 - Diagnostic of pulmonary affection as a result of other organs and systems’ diseases

 - Diagnostic of medicine damage of the lungs, etc.

Cardiopulmonary system function testing during exercise

The following examinations are conducted in the laboratory:

 - Cardiopulmonary stress test

 

Cardiopulmonary stress test is indicated for diagnostics of:

 - Idiopathic dyspnea

 - Preoperative assessment of the compensative abilities of the organism

 - Tracking progression of cardiac, pulmonary, neuromuscular diseases

 - Monitoring of the treatment effect

 - Measuring stamina for healthy people and athletes

The hospital has a parking lot for patients and visitors. The first 30 min. are free of charge, the first hour after that has a 3 BGN fee, and for every next hour a 2BGN/hrs. fee applies.
IMPORTANT! Have in mind that the parking lot is very busy Monday to Friday between 10.00 and 14.00. The hospital team will appreciate if those whose health condition allow, take the drop off option without parking or use other transport means or alternative parking lots in the area.

Metro lines: You can get off at James Bourchier or Vitosha metro station and walk to the hospital.
