Prof. Simeon Stoynov, MD, PhD, DSc, Gastroenterology Clinic Chief Prof. Stoynov graduated from Medical University, Sofia in 1969. He is a specialist in internal diseases and gastroenterology, He was the Head of Gastroenterology Faculty in Medical University, Sofia for over ten years. He was the head of gastroenterology clinics and gastroenterology clinical trials center. He is the president of Bulgarian Society of Gastroenterology and a member of the International Gastro-Surgical Club and the Organisation Mondiale de Gastro-Entérologie. Prof. Stoynov has over 150 scientific publications in Bulgarian and foreign magazines and has taken part in over 60 national and international congresses and forums.
His scientific interest is focused mainly in the field of intestinal diseases and inflamatory bowel diseases.
Radin Tzonev, MD, PhD, Gastroenterology Dept. Chief Dr. Tzonev graduated from Military Medical Institute, Sofia in 1988, where he earned 18 years of experience. From 1994 to 2007 he worked in the 5th General Hospital in the gastroenterology department of the medical clinic. He earned a specialization in internal diseases in 1995 and specialized in gastroenterology in 1997. In 1992, he completed additional qualifications courses in abdominal echography. He completed coursework in 1993 for invasive echography under the mentorship of Professor N. Grigorov, and later under the leadership of the leading Academic Professor G. Mechov. Since 2002, he has been qualified to conduct blind and precision hepatic (liver) biopsies.
He is a member of the Bulgarian Association of Gastroentrologists and the Association of Ultrasound Medicine, and The International Association of Gastroentrologists and Surgeons. He completed post-graduate qualification courses in 1995 in Athens, Greece. He was awarded a two month specialization course in endoscopy and echo-endoscopy held in Rome, Italy in the Catholic Jemeli University hospital lead by Professor Guido Kostmania. In the year 2000, he specialized in Arnhem, Rotterdam, and Amsterdam, Holland in 2000. Dr. Tzonev completed a two month specialization course in Nice, France in 2003. He has numerous publications in the national and international scientific journals. He is fluent in English, Russian, and is semi-fluent in Italian.
Petko Karagyozov, MD, Interventional Gastroenterology Dept. Chief Dr. Karagyozov graduated medicine from Medical university Sofia in 2004. During the period between February 2005 and August 2011 he specialized and worked in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Clinic of Military Medical Academy - Sofia, under the guidance of Prof. Krum Katzarov and Assoc. Prof. Dimitar Takov. In December 2012 Dr. Karagyozov acquired his specialty in Gastroenterology. In 2013 he completed spicialization in Gastroenterology in Shonan Kamakura General Hospital, Kanagawa, Japan, as part of a scientific exchange program among the hospitals in Tokushukai Medical Corporation. In 2014 he earned a scholarship from the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) and conducted a specialization in the Department of Interdisciplinary Endoscopy in Elisabethinen Hospital in Linz, Austria on the theme "Echo Endoscopy and endoscopic methods for treatment of chronic pancreatitis". Dr. Karagyozov competed also training programs in Gastroenterology and Therapeutic Endoscopy in Germany, Czech Republic, The Netherlands, and Italy.
Dr. Karagyozov is a member of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE), European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), Bulgarian Scientific Society for Gastroenterology.
Since 1st September 2011 he is part of Tokuda Hospital's team and since 1st February 2015 he is head of Interventional Gastroenterology Unit in Second Internal Medicine Clinic. He executed routinely upper and lower endoscopy, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and all related to them therapeutic procedures, as well as percutaneous interventions under ultrasound and X-ray control. His interests are in the sphere of interventional treatment of pancreas diseases and biliary system. He is Doctor of the year in Tokuda Hospital Sofia for 2015.
Rozalina Balabanska, MD, Gastroenterologist, Internist Dr. Balabanska graduated from Medical University, Sofia in 1987, she earned her speciality in internal diseases in 1996, and added her speciality in gastroenterology and nutrition in 1999. She worked in the gastroenterology clinic of the Miltary Medical Academy and the 5th General Hospital where she gained fourteen years of experience under the mentorship of the leader academic Professor Grigor Mechkov.

She specialized in gastroenterology and endoscopic echography in the “National Cancer Disease Research and Treatment Center” in Milan, Italy, and has specializations from Holland, England, Greece and Russia. For over ten years, she worked on international programs for the treatment of viral hepatitis. She performs hepatic biopsies, precision punctures assited by echography, and paracentisis. She is fluent in English, Russian, and Italian. She is a member of the International and Bulgarian Association of Surgeons and Gastroentrologists, the European Association of Ultrasound in Medicine, and the Bulgarian
Gastroentrology Society. She has numerous national and international publications, she writes a medical gastroenterology column for the Medical magazine “Medical Magazine”, she joined our team in March 2007. Dr. Balabanska is researcher of the year in Tokuda Hospital Sofia for 2015 and 2018.
Aneliya Decheva, MD, Gastroenterologist, Internist Dr. Decheva graduated from Medical University, Stara Zagora in 1992, she earned her speciality in internal diseases in 1999, and added her speciality in gastroenterology in 2006. In 1996 and 1997 Dr. Decheva passed educational courses in "Endoscopy of LDT" and in "Abdominal Ultrasound" in Clinical Center of Gastroenterology, University Hospital "Queen Giovanna", Sofia. In 2002 passed Basic Educational Course in Diagnostic glandulae mammae, National Oncological Center, Sofia. In 2004 passed Advanced Course in Gastroenterology and European Postgraduate Gastro-Surgical School in Amsterdam. 2003 - 2005 Resident of Gastroenterology, Medical University, University Hospital "St.Ivan Rilski", Sofia. Dr. Decheva passed many Professional Trainee Courses and participated different gastro-Conferences and forums in Bulgaria and abroad.
From 1992 till 2006 Dr. Decheva worked in the Gastroenterology Department of Multi-Profile Hospital for Active Treatment "Dr.Atanas Dafovski", Kardjali; from 2006 till 2009 - in the department of Gastroenterology and Haematology of the 5th City Hospital, Sofia, from february 2009 Dr. Decheva is a member of Tokuda Hospital's team.
Membership in Scientific Societies: EASL, BAUM-Bulgarian Association of Ultrasound in Medicine, EFSUMB, BSGGEAU-Bulgarian Societion of Gastroenterology,with Affiliated Sections of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and Abdominal Ultrasound, BASGO-Bulgarian Association of Surgeons and Gastroenterologists (and Oncologists).
Ziumrut Sadukova, MD, Gastroenterologist Dr. Sadukova graduated medicine from Medical University Sofia in 2007. In 2008 she started working as a volunteer in the Department of Gastroenterology in Tokuda Hospital Sofia. In 2009 she started regular residency in Gastroenterology. In December 2013 Dr. Sadukova finalized her residency and acquired Gastroenterology specialty. Dr. Sadukova is a member of the Bulgarian Gastroenterological Society, the Bulgarian Association for Ultasound in Medicine. She has a qualification for conducting of andominal ultrasound. Her scientific interests are directed to the areas of hepatology and inflammatory bowel diseases.
Ivan Tishkov, MD, Gastroenterologist Dr. Tishkov graduated medicine from Medical University Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov - Varna in 2013. After his graduation he worked as a volunteer in the Department of Gastroenterology in Tokuda Hospital Sofia. Since April 2014 he is full member of the Second Clinic for Internal Medicine. In June 2014 he is assigned as a resident in the Department of Gastroenterology for the period 2014 - 2018 after succesfully passing of an exam. His professional interests are directed to the following areas: diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower endoscopy, ERCPG, manipulations under ultrasound and X-ray control. He is a member of the Bulgarian Scientific Gastroenterologic Society.
Zhenya Georgieva, MD, Gastroenterologist Dr. Georgieva graduated medicine from Medical University Plovdiv in 2008. She worked in several Gastroenterological Departments in Hopitals in the area of Plovdiv and Pazardzhik and the same time she worked in the other directions of Internal Medicine also in Emergency Unit. In 2012 she started residency in Military Medical Academy under the guidence of Prof. Krum Katzarov and Assoc. Prof. Handzhiev. She is a co-author of publication together with Assoc. Prof. Handzhiev. Since January 2015 dr. Georgieva is a member of Tokuda Hospital Sofia, since the creation of the Interventional Gastroenterology Unit.

Krasen Ivanov, MD, gastroenterologist Dr. Krasen Ivanov graduated medicine from Medical University Prof. Dr. Paraskev Stoyanov - Varna in 2014. After his graduation he worked in private practices and Emergency Medicine Units on the territory of Sofia and Varna. Since 2015 he has worked as a volunteer in Second Internal Medicine Clinic, Department of Gastroenterology of Tokuda Hospital Sofia. Since June 2015 he is assigned as a regular resident in Gastroenterology in the Department.
His scientific interests are in the following areas: hepatology, abdominal echography, percutaneous interventions under ultrasound and X-ray control, diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower endoscopy. He is a member of the Bulgarian Scientific Gastroenterology Society.

The hospital has a parking lot for patients and visitors. The first 30 min. are free of charge, every next hour is 3BGN/hrs.
IMPORTANT! Have in mind that the parking lot is very busy Monday to Friday between 10.00 and 14.00. The hospital team will appreciate if those whose health condition allow, take the drop off option without parking or use other transport means or alternative parking lots in the area.
