220 Radiation Technicians from 12 Countries Participated in an International Congress in Acibadem City Clinic Tokuda Hospital

The event was one of the most significant in South-East Europe for the work of health care professionals in the field of radiation therapy
More than 220 radiation technicians and healthcare professionals working in the field of radiation therapy actively participated in the Third Regional Congress of SEETRO (South East Europe Technology in Radiation Oncology), an association of RTTs in Southeast Europe. The Symposium was held at Acibadem City Clinic Tokuda Hospital between September 22nd and September 24th, 2017. The director of the scientific meeting was Ivet Payanova - a senior RTT in Tokuda Hospital Radiation and Radiation Surgery Department. The extensive program of lectures and practical exercises covered the activities of Radiation Therapists and innovations in radiotherapy and radiosurgery. Some of the topics focused on imaging methods and protocols in radiation therapy, immobilization, radiotherapy verification, contamination of organs at risk, new radiation treatments such as gamma- and cyberknife, brachytherapy, IGRT, IMRT, RapidArc and others. The Forum also defined the responsibilities and duties of the RTTs. Current patterns of work have been presented in relation to radiation protection, patient communication, nursing, and others.
The lecturers of the congress are specialists from many European countries, including the chair of the ESTRO RTT Committee for Radiation Technicians, Michele Leach, who is an honorary guest. There are more than 220 participants – RTTs, physicists, doctors, nurses - specialists whose daily practice is related to radiation therapy. Foreign delegates account for 120 out of 12 different countries. The event is one of the largest in the field of RTTs work in Southeastern Europe.

The hospital has a parking lot for patients and visitors. The first 30 min. are free of charge, the first hour after that has a 3 BGN fee, and for every next hour a 2BGN/hrs. fee applies.
IMPORTANT! Have in mind that the parking lot is very busy Monday to Friday between 10.00 and 14.00. The hospital team will appreciate if those whose health condition allow, take the drop off option without parking or use other transport means or alternative parking lots in the area.

Metro lines: You can get off at James Bourchier or Vitosha metro station and walk to the hospital.


From the Central Railway Station

Bus: take bus #305 and get off at Romanian Embassy stop, then transfer to bus #120 to Tokuda Hospital stop.

Metro: Take metro line Nadezda-Lozenetz and get off either at James Bourchier or Vitosha metro station, then walk to the hospital.
