Since then he is in the waiting list for transplantation, as this is the only chance for him to live. According to the scale, which gives an assessment for the liver harm, the damages are irreversible and the survival in these cases is 3 month to 1 year. “The operation was complicated due to the condition of the patient and the advanced cirrhosis, but thanks to the perfect teams of over 30 people in Tokuda, who were extremely well prepared and whom we cooperate excellently with, the liver was successfully transplanted. I want to express big gratitude to the entire team of the Clinic for Liver, Billiary, Pancreatic and General Surgery, to all the surgery nurses and anesthesiologists and also to the colleagues from Lozenetz Hospital, who provided us with valuable assistance in explantation of the organ”, Assoc. “Excellent organization of the teams and not a single wrong step allowed us to complete the heavy operation successfully on Saturday morning. The patient is in the ICU in satisfactory condition. I want to use the chance to thank the noble decision of the relatives of the donor”, added Dr. Simeonov.

After it became clear that there are donor situation in Varna on Thursday and the relatives of 42-year-old brain dead agreed to donate his organs, the donor was transported by helicopter to LozenetsHospital in Sofia.
